A trip to Langkawi - The jewel of Kedah!
If there is one island you MUST definitely visit in Malaysia, I am sure a lot of them will answer it as Langkawi; fondly called as the Jewel of Kedah!
There are a lot of islands in and around Malaysia like Redang, Langkawi, Perhentian, Tioman, Sipadan, Pangkor, etc but Langkawi is one of the busiest islands with lots of activities to do and places to see apart from just sunbathing in the beaches or doing some beachy activities! This post is going to showcase our recent trip to Langkawi mainly focusing on the places we visited during our 3D2N trip from Kuala lumpur.
We started off to Langkawi by air although we were thinking if we could drive in car and take a ferry to reach the island. But going through air was the easiest way to reach there very fast. Once we reached the airport, we decided to take a rented car since myself and hubby knew this as the best decision to check out the places on our own. Renting a car would be useful if you know driving as driving is quite easy on the roads of Langkawi and it saves a lot of time to wait for a taxi or for any public transport. You have a lot of rental agencies in the airport itself and quite an easy way to book directly.
Our first destination was the famous Langkawi SkyCab. Located near the Pantai Kok beach, this was my steepest cable car ride ever. You need to enter to the Langkawi Skycab and the Sky bridge via the Oriental Village. The Oriental Village has a lot of restaurants and shops if you need to rest for a while or have some food or buy some souvenirs. There are 2 stations in your journey with the Skycab and you get down in each station and enjoy the beauty of the mount Mat Cinang/look at the Sky bridge/take pictures/have some light refreshments/buy gifts.

Around 600 meters in our journey, we reach our first station. The view from here is absolutely tremendous to look at the forests below or to check out the beaches. Check out for yourself!
Now, we move towards our second station which is further up on the mountains. The weather becomes more pleasant and cooler as we move up the altitude. The first station is seen in the picture below.
Much higher view of the beach and the forests from the second station. The picture is cloudy as the time we reached the top spot, the clouds were showing up. When we descended down, we were passing though some clouds and that was quite unnerving! The whole experience was so wonderful and Little V enjoyed the Cable car journey so very well!
The Sky bridge was closed for renovation during our trip. I just managed to take a picture of the Sky bridge during our cable car ride.

Our next stop was to the Crocodile Farm. The whole place was well maintained and we were able to witness some feeding as well. There are different sections within the farm; from 2 months baby crocodiles to a few years, the most biggest ones are also here! With so many species of Crocodiles seen, you can view and watch how these reptiles behave and feed themselves. We were present for one of the feeding sessions so we could watch them catch and feed the meat with fierce motions.
The next day, we visited the Eagle Square in Kuah. Overlooking the harbor of Kuah bay is a magnificent Reddish Brown Eagle along with a few other sight seeing activities in that area.
This is a must visit place if you have even been to Langkawi as the reddish brown eagle signifies the name of Langkawi - Helang means eagle and Kawi means Reddish brown. The weather was so pleasant when we visited the Eagle Square; we were able to enjoy the scenery and the ships leaving/reaching the harbor.
This is an ideal place to relax and take photographs, buy gifts and book for any Island hopping activities. There are a lot of agencies which can provide you the best of Island hopping itinerary in the Eagle Square area.
One of my first travel inside Malaysia is Langkawi and it din't disappoint me, rather made me happy. The whole island is so beautiful that you will definitely need at least 3 days or 4 days to enjoy all the activities in the island.
Oh, and I know you are guessing where are the beach photos since I went to an Island? Wait for them as I show you the beaches in Langkawi and the Island hopping we did. Till then, have a good day!
