Forgiven | Write Tribe Festival Of Words June 2018
She looked at the paper in front of her. It was not a long list. Just 3 lines and it read ‘BUCKET LIST’.
She has always wanted to have a bucket list and experience the joy of striking the ones which are done. But till that time, she never got to sit down and list what all she wanted to do with all her heart. To know what it feels like, to experience it!
The first two lines which had the 2 bucket list items were completed. Now, the only pending one is the third one from the bucket list. She sipped her tea and sat in the balcony looking at the streets.
She stared at the paper........
3. Forgive Nakshatra for all she has done.
She started to wander into her thoughts. It looked very simple as if gulping down a cup of water. Forgive and move on. But forgiving was difficult. She didn’t want to think about her old memories. It was not a particular incident but some events in which things changed between them. The distance has been created and they don’t speak anymore to each other. She felt hurt and the pain was still there in her heart. How could she do that to me? How could she ruin my name within my own family? May be one day, Nakshatra will understand her.
Now that she knew her days were counted, she wanted to have some peace within herself. She wanted to let go of that burden. Yes, she thought. Holding that grudge was feeling like a burden to her. That heavy feeling in her heart was affecting her. That last item has always been in her thoughts. Why don’t we talk as normal and move on in life?
She realised that doing the materialistic things was easy in the list. Not this! Doing something from within was difficult, like forgiving!
Why?
Because we need to accept it and move on in life without any inhibitions. And… That’s when human emotions play havoc. We tend to go back to square one and kindle the unwanted thoughts when we are upset. But forgiving needs to let go of that inhibition and understand the other person and that things happened when it happened. We are all flawed humans.
She knew deep in her heart, she wanted to let go and embrace Nakshatra. She wanted to feel that relationship which she once had with her. She realised she was going through her good memories and understood how it felt for her. She wanted to do this for herself. She is not forgiving Nakshatra for anyone else. She is doing it for herself.
It was an impulse. She got up from the chair and she started to walk towards the phone. She knew she has to do it. She took the phone and dialled the number. It was ringing…
‘Hello Nakshatra…..’
