Mint Cilantro Yogurt dip

Dips make an incredible accompaniment to any dish. It can go well with flatbreads, chips, nachos, fried snacks, raw vegetables like carrots/cucumbers, etc,. There are so many varieties of dips but the one I am sharing today is easy and can be made quickly.

The Mint Cilantro Yogurt dip or Mint Coriander Yogurt chutney (however you want to call it) contains only basic ingredients and nothing fancy. The chances are, you might be having these ingredients handy in your fridge and kitchen. The mint and cilantro (coriander) leaves give a good flavour to the yogurt.

What do you need?

Mint leaves - 3/4 cup tightly packed

Coriander/Cilantro leaves - 1/2 cup tightly packed

Cumin - a pinch (replace with cumin powder if you have it)

Ginger - 1 tsp

Green Chilli - 1 big (adjust as per your need)

Yogurt - 1 cup or more (depending on how you want your yogurt dip to be)

Water - as needed to grind

Salt - as needed

How to make it?

Wash the mint and cilantro (coriander) leaves well in water, to remove any dirt. Wash the green chilli in water as well. We will be grinding the leaves and other ingredients first and this will be our base to which we add the yogurt. Combine all the ingredients except yogurt to blend it well. You now have the base for the dip. This base is versatile enough that you can use it as a base sauce for sandwiches or to make a mixed rice recipe.

Once the base is ready, whisk the yogurt and add it to the blended paste. Mix it well and your dip is ready.

As I always say, you can adjust the spice level and the salt for this dip as per your taste buds. Increase the cilantro (coriander) leaves or ginger if you like that taste more.
